Hey guys…  this is gonna be our LAST POST.  how the time flies!! i can still remember our first post. actually, all our posts. HAHA. So let’s make it a bit more special.          

              When we first got chosen, we were excited about making a solar boat, representing our school and going to Terengganu. As time got on, we got more involved in the BP Project such as doing the blog, and thinking about designs for solar boats. And then there was the launching day. We had to prepare a sketch, make a model and lots more but it was soo much fun! =)

          The making of the solar boat was really enjoyable too, as we really got to work together as a team and learn new things. Avinash use a ‘gergaji jig’! HAHA. Our teachers, En. Zul and En. Sukri taught us to do things properly too.

        Winning or losing will not matter to us in the competition in Terengganu. Why? Because we already have what we wanted. A whole lot of fun, tons of experiences, friends that will be there for us no matter what and to got to know about the environment more.

      Lastly, we will sincerely try our very best in the competition and give it our all!  Wish us luck! =)

Launching Day (part 3)

Hey yo .. As we promised we are going to tell you guys more about our sketch that we had on our launching day …i mean our BIG DAY !!! The sketch could have lasted for about 5 minutes AND all that i can see is a SMILE in the faces of  every students , teachers and the BP officers .There was a ” crazy professor ” and 2 students . The sketch really gave a good message to all viewers about BP MyScience Project . The best part is we all did it without a mistake  AND  that shows the amount of effort we all have put in to satisfy the Bp Officers and the school . Our TEAMWORK has also conributed to all our success TILL NOW . We also overcomed many problems but we all know that ” If we cant direct the wind , we can adjust the sails “So guys , we all as a team really want to remind all the Starians that TEAMWORK  can bring you ANYWHERE !!!!

THE  REASON OF  ALL OUR SUCCESS IS TEAMWORK !!! =D

Launching Day (part 2)

YAY! We’re back! Ok, let’s get right to it.

Weeks of preperation were made for the BIG DAY. And we finally pulled it off without a hitch. (WOOHOO!) oh, wait… Maybe we DID have a few mistakes. You know what they say ‘Nobody’s perfect’ like Hannah Montana’s song! …… We’ll tell you guys the mistake we made at the end of the post so keep reading, stay tuned and don’t skip!!

First of all, we welcomed the BP officer, Mr. Zulkifli Othman, into the school. Four prefects were there at the gate of the hall to greet  him with a warm STARIAN welcome. And to present the brochure for the event and also the lyrics of the rap song, which we have already posted. The headmistress and the Bp officer then took their seats which we have prepared for them at the center of the stage. The MC for the event were Miss Shambavee and Miss Preeyangka. The MCs invited Mr. Zulkifli Othman to the stage to give a speech. He elaborated to the students about BP’s objectives of this project, BP’s activities were throughout this competition. He also gave us tips on how to get more points so THANKS, SIR!! =D

Next was the drama, which was about the Crazy Professor (Avinash) and two students/victims (Nazrin and Katrina). We’ll post a video and elaborate about it in the next post so keep checking here! =)

After that, our headmistress, Mrs. Hajjah Kamariah, gave a speech to officiate the Launching Day. She signed on the model solar boat which we built. The H2O and the tree then came to present our school theme which is ‘Preserve and Conserve for Tomorrow’. A few volunteers came to paste a few flashcards on the board about the enivronment. Other students also gave their thoughts on how they as individuals could preserve and conserve the environment in BM and English respectively.

Folowing that, we introduced our three winning mascots of the mascot competition:

3rd place : Panda bear by class 2 JAYA
2nd place : H2O by class 2 BUDI
and… 1st place : Ninja Turtle by class 2 AMAL

Good work to all the classes and congratulations to those who won!!

Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for.. the PRIZE-GIVING Ceremony!! BM essay competition, the winners are as following :

2nd place : Ganesh
1st place : Shazreena

And for the English category :

3rd place : Preeyangka
2nd place :Timothy
1st place : Brandon Khoo

We invited Mrs. Hajjah Kamariah and Mr. Zulkifli Othman to give out the prizes. Finally, the group LADAN (which stands for Lingeshwar, Arvin, Darsshan, Avinash, and Niroshiman)  presented the rap song about the environment. In our opinion, it was AWESOME. And as we promised, the mistake that you guys have read and been waiting for. LOL.

Lingeshwar got stage fright and forgot his lines for the rap song and went blank for a few seconds but luckily, here in SMKTAR we help one another. His rap partner from their group (LADAN crew)  Avinash, was able to continue Lingeshwar’s verses. So all in all, it was a SUCCESS!! We all enjoyed ourselves, had a lot of  fun, had gotten closer to our fellows friends and last but not least we gained tons of experience in this event.

Launching Day

HEY!!!  What a BLAST we had during the Lauching Day for the BP My science Project!!! I mean come on, the sketch was entertaining,the speech was meaningful and the rap was AWESOME!!!! But hey ,this is just our opinion.What do your guys think??? Well keep on reading if you’re curious cause we’re gonna be re-living THE AWESOME DAY FROM A TO Z!!

But first let’s begin with the roots that grew into the tall tree. We had our loving and caring headmistress, Mrs Hajjah Kamariah binti Salim. Yes the main reason why we are even in this competition, not forgetting Mrs Hajjah Adliyah binti Ramli AND Mr Samsudin bin Mat. Next, we have our Maths Wizard AND Science Wiz of the school, Mrs Chong Lay Pheng. Unfortunately, if we wanna give a fancy welcome to all the teachers, well lets just say that it will take half of the blog so we’ll just have to state them in the following way.

The Notice..Board..Did you guys notice it ?

Hey Yooo! …We just wanted to tell you guys more about our notice board.

Our notice board is located in front of the Form 2 block and it is often visited by students. It’s nicely decorated and often updated. There, we have ALSO put the essays of those who won, so other students can read them. Many pictures have also been stuck there, so feel free to view them.

We are updating!

Hi there all my fellow students! You know, we’ve been making some major preparations for the BIG DAY IN TERENGGANU and to me, I think it’s been going quite smoothly. So, one of us started thinking,’Hey we’ve been so busy building the boat that we’ve havent’ put much effort in our blog’. Well, so we decided that we’re gonna make this blog-reading experience yet more interesting by introducing a few new segments to it to make it even more interesting for you people who are reading this blog right now. What are we adding exactly? Well you’ll just have to wait and see.

By the way, I hope all Starians will enjoy the surprise we will be presenting during our evening assembly next Monday. There are major things ahead for everyone! We also hope that the BP representatives have a good time at the event.

Mascot presentation ceremony for BP myScience Project

The mascot presentation ceremony took place during our Monday assembly . All the class form Form 2 presented thier very own mascot … ( all with its own unique designs ) . All the Form 2 classes really put a lot effort in doing their mascots . They all followed the 4r’s concept which is reuse , recycle , reduce and rethink .The best part is when the girrafe done by class 2 Setia hit the fan . During the mascot presentation, everyone enjoyed looking at all the mascots .

The Making of Solar Boat

Okey, the promised info about the solar boat…

We started sketching a model of the boat, first in paper, and then using polystrene. A special thank you to Pn. Chong for lending us the polystrene cutter which is soo cool! The polystrene is cut by a heated wire!

Anyway, we faced many problems such as:

a) The polystrene wasn’t evenly cut !!(frustration)
b) Which materials to use and whether its strong enough
c) Whether the design was nice (the main confusion)

Some of them we managed to overcome, though. SOME. We came early to school a couple of times to do the build the solar boat, as we didn’t want it to clash with our studies. ~.~ Today, Cikgu Zul asked us about the colours for the boat, and we decided on black and red. Tomorrow we’re supposed to complete our first model and start sketching our SECOND model. yes, second… As a back-up and another choice.

Think thats it about the solar boat. We’ll be posting more about it soon! bye!

Discussion with our loving teachers..!

 

              Before school started, the four of us went to see the two teachers in charge of this project, Encik Zul and Encik Sukri. We discussed about the notice board and ideas to decorate it. We also talked about the solar boat, and  the next step in making it. We have already started building the solar boat . (more info about the solar boat later!) The teachers advised us to update the blog regularly. They never fail to encourage us and build our spirits up when we we’re in doubt. As Mr. Zul said, “never take this project as a burden, instead, we should enjoy this and have fun’.

       The truth is, we really enjoy working as a team, the four of us: Katrina, Shambavee ,Nazrin and Avinash. AND we’re really REALLY lucky to have such great and supporting teachers to guide us. Thank You ….! =)
